Shortcut: COM:AN

This is a place where users can communicate with administrators, or administrators with one another. You can report vandalism, problematic users, or anything else that needs an administrator's intervention. Do not report child pornography or other potentially illegal content here; e-mail legal-reports@wikimedia.org instead. If reporting threatened harm to self or others also email emergency@wikimedia.org.

Report users for clear cases of vandalism. Block requests for any other reason should be reported to the blocks and protections noticeboard.


Report disputes with users that require administrator assistance. Further steps are listed at resolve disputes.


Reports that do not suit the vandalism noticeboard may be reported here. Requests for page protection/unprotection could also be requested here.


Other reports that require administrator assistance which do not fit in any of the previous three noticeboards may be reported here. Requests for history merging or splitting should be filed at COM:HMS.

I think 202.75.83.59 and 202.75.86.158, who like Hmtvie seem to be trying to get every photo of Hong Kong deleted and demanding "speedy deletion" on the basis of relative unsharpness, the fact that the subject is a hotel, or that the photo is supposedly taken from a forbidden location and using templates like "vote speedy" that show a great deal of familiarity with the site while often "forgetting" to sign their edits, must also be sockpuppets wasting everyone's time with abusive deletion requests. Category:Mega Victoria (ship, 1988)[edit]

Category:Amorella (ship, 1988) was moved to Category:Mega Victoria (ship, 1988) contrary to our practise regarding categories by ship name (see User talk:AleWi#Categories of ships by name). Could somebody please revert the move. I'll create the new Category:Mega Victoria (ship, 1988) if I am notified when the move has been done (and I'll try to sort out what files to have in which category, if that hasn't been done). Copyvios by Tkbgandhi[edit]

Tkbgandhi (talk · contribs) again uploaded already deleted files. User tricky uploaded files in Flickr under "Public domain" license and use in Commons. Also see Commons:Deletion requests/File:RVenkitaraman Letter.png and it seems that the originality is questionable as well as ownership too. Admin intervention is needed. about LTA sock userpage which contains impersonation to me; User:郊外生活のサブ垢[edit]

I would like to solve the problem at User:郊外生活のサブ垢. This account has been blocked and locked due to LTA sock, however, the content of this userpage contains impersonation to me. The first sentence and the second paragraph both are written in Japanese can be thought to impersonation. In addition, the latter part of this page has been copied and pasted from w:ja:User:郊外生活; my userpage on jawiki. So I tried to remove these content and replaced to {{Indefblockeduser}} because this user account has blocked, but I couldn't do that due to abusefilter, so I ask for sysop or other users who has enough rights to deal this issue. I have some proposal and I appreciate if either proposal is accepted:

  1. delete this userpage as vandalism or other adequate reason.
  2. replace the content of the username into {{Indefblockeduser}}, {{Sockpuppet}} or other adequate templates.
  3. add a template that shows this account is impersonation.

I made a typo, now I can't fix it anymore[edit]

Hi there. I made a typo when creating this category title[1], it should be "Library" instead of "Libary". I tried to salvage it myself, however for some reason I can't adjust it. Copyright concerns[edit]

Hi all--an en-wiki user flagged another user there, saying there were concerns about them adding copyrighted content on Commons. I'm no expert, but the complaint seems to have merit, and I'm hoping one of you will have the time to look at the contributions of User:ThethPunjabi. I support the concerns raised above. I think some of this is a misunderstanding by ThethPunjabi on what "own work" means and how copyright works. Being the uploader of the image doesn't give them the valid ability to assign a license, especially when they don't know the actual author and date of the original (File:Various Punjabi Folk Instruments.jpg). All Most of these images should be deleted, some as pretty obvious copyright violations with the rest as precautionary as there isn't enough information to support the license claims made. Some are probably valid for fair-use on EN, but I would recommend the uploader start a discussion at w:Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions and ask. the newyork times in this link wrote : "A picture of Mahsa Amini provided to Iran Wire by her family. The authorities have said she died of heart failure; her family say she had been in good health." the original source of image is iranwire.com and mahsa amini family provided those pictures to that news agency, then all news agencies (bbc, cnn, fox, guardian, dailymail and ...) used that images. is this enough or i not? if not what should i do? i emailed iranwier.com and wait for their reply. Overwritten file[edit]

Would an admin mind taking a look at File:Somaliland Armed Forces Emblem.svg? I agree these versions are highly different, which is not in accordance with Commons:Overwriting existing files. Did you ask the uploader about their rationale?
